Kennett Future Ready

Kennett High School Future Ready Empowering students to thrive in a changing world: Programs of Study, Work-Based Learning, Dual Enrollment, Leadership Academy

Our 2025 - 2026 Class Has Been Invited

We are pleased to announce that sixty-six (66) high school seniors for the 2025 - 2026 school year have been invited to participate in the Leadership Academy at Kennett High School.   Thirty three of these students were accepted to participate in the Kennett Future Ready pilot created to build critical skills like leadership, communication, and problem solving through student-selected capstone projects such as research, product development, service learning, internships, or civic engagement.

The Future Ready program was developed with the help of twenty-nine Class of 2025 senior students who participated in a leadership academy that not only helped them grow their skills, but aided the administration in creating a Future Ready program that serves our future students.

This beta program for grade 12 students will be a first step in developing a curriculum that not only offers high school students opportunities to concentrate on a field of study, but also aid in building programs in earlier grades preparing them for future opportunities in Future Ready.

Host a Student Intern

Provide a 60-hour internship experience in your organization.  Students earn valuable learning and high school credit, and compensation is not required.  This hands-on experience helps students build career skills and professional networks. Internships are customized based on student and partner need and can be a mix of in-person, virtual, and/or research.  Current needs include architecture, engineering, information technology, marketing and communications, digital media, and business finance.

Become a Capstone Coach

The Kennett Future Ready (KFR) Capstone connects students with industry mentors who guide them in designing, implementing, and presenting real-world projects. Coaches play a vital role in bridging classroom learning with professional practice by supporting students’ growth in communication, project management, and problem-solving. They share industry insights, encourage innovation, and provide constructive feedback while coaching students to do the work themselves. With careful matching between student leaders and coaches, the goal is to create a meaningful, win-win experience that delivers value to both students and the broader community.

Classroom Discussions

To strengthen student marketability and leadership growth, the Kennett Future Ready (KFR) program invites industry professionals to lead classroom discussions. By sharing their expertise on what employers value in prospective employees and interviewees, professionals provide students with authentic insights into workplace expectations. These conversations help students refine their communication and collaboration skills, build confidence, and better prepare for future career opportunities.
