I want to take a moment to let you know how proud I am of your children for an excellent week of remote learning. All of the principals had the opportunity to visit online classrooms this week, and it was great to see your children smiling and learning! We know this is a unique educational environment, but your students are making the best of it! You should be proud!
- Thank you for participating in our virtual Back to School Night with your children! I hope this was a productive opportunity to discuss online learning with your child! Periodically, you should ask your student to provide you with an update of what they are learning and to show you what they are learning on their Schoology pages. This is important to ensure effective school-to-home communication.
- On Wednesday, September 23rd, we will be hosting two PTSO meetings. One beginning at 6:00 PM, and one following at 7:00 PM for Spanish language. We will be providing updates to all things KHS, in addition to answering any questions you may have. We will also be providing a survey for parents to share feedback we can utilize to improve our programming. We hope to see you there! Zoom links will be sent out the day of the meeting.
- An update on senior class make-up photos: Over the summer, Lifetouch provided opportunities for seniors to take the photos that would be included in the school yearbook. At this time, as a result of our remote learning period, we do not have a make-up date scheduled; however, we do anticipate having make-up opportunities at some point in mid-October. Your patience with this process is appreciated.
- Finally, I know there have been several questions surrounding SATs and PSATs. I am strongly encouraging you to reach out to your child’s counselor with your specific SAT/PSAT questions so they can provide you with information regarding how school closures/SAT cancellations are impacting the college admissions process. Most colleges and universities are sensitive to this unique learning situation, and are providing flexibility in regards to testing requirements. Our counselors are tremendous resources, and I strongly recommend you reach out to them for more information. I have included their contact information below.
With that said, thank you for all that you do as parents to support your children in this remote learning setting. Your efforts often go unnoticed as you support your children during this unique time. Please know that we appreciate all you do to ensure your students have an optimal learning environment at home.
If I can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Hritz, Ed.D.
Principal, Kennett High School
