Principal’s Message 2/22/21

KHS Families,

Once again, we encountered another snowy and icy week, but we were able to push through and continue with instruction through our virtual program. I am sure all of us are looking forward to the promise of warmer weather this springtime, which hopefully is not too far away. As we close out another Friday in this unique school year, I wanted to provide a few notes, reminders, and updates.

1. Pre-Registration for our students taking the SAT at KHS on March 3rd is scheduled during the Flex Period beginning Monday, February 22, 2021. Please see the schedule for Pre-Registration below. For students who are participating in the virtual learning program, they may attend according to the below schedule, or attend either of the after school pre-registration sessions which are being offered Tuesday, February 23rd and Thursday, February 25th from 3:00 – 3:45 PM. Students should report to the main lobby on these days, and they will be directed to the Pre-Registration location. A friendly reminder that face masks must be worn, social distancing parameters must be followed, and the health screening should be completed prior to coming into the building.

2. Please note that Wednesday, March 3rd, all students not taking the SATs will have an asynchronous virtual learning day. Teachers will provide specific information for what students are to do on this day.

3. Every school day counts! Attendance in school is required by law and important to your student’s success regardless of your method of instruction – hybrid (in-person) or virtual (at home). Attached to this email is important information regarding student attendance. Please take the time to carefully read through this information. Click Here to view: KCSD Attendance Reminders

4. The next PTSO meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 3rd. A Spanish-language version will begin at 6:00 PM, while an English-language version will begin at 7:00 PM. Links for these meetings will be sent out the morning of March 3rd.

5. Spring Break for Kennett High School students will run from Monday, March 29th through Friday, April 2nd.

6. The end of the 3rd marking period is Wednesday, April 7th.

7. Please note that the recent virtual snow days do not have to be made up in the summer, and we are still on pace to finish our school year on time.

8. The Kennett High School “Bottom of the Book Bag” is a great way to share and receive additional School and Community news. If you haven’t already, please be sure to sign up to receive twice weekly updates including Sports Team Scores and Recaps, Club News, Fundraisers, Volunteer Opportunities, and Community Events!
