Scheduling Update for the 2020-2021 School Year

May 4, 2020

Greetings,

Parents/guardians and students should read this letter carefully as it contains important information related to course selection and the scheduling process for the upcoming school year.

In our efforts to create a master schedule that best meets the needs of all of our students at Kennett High School for the 2020-2021 school year, it is important that we have the most accurate information related to student course selection as possible. Making certain that students have chosen their desired elective courses is a critical part of this process. To ensure accuracy, we are asking all students to do the following:

  • Review and verify elective course selections on Skyward. You can find your requests under: Schedule –>View Available Courses for 2020-2021 in Kennett High School.
  • Identify three alternate elective courses and rank them in order of interest.
  • Elective changes may be made by emailing your school counselor.
  • All changes must be submitted by the end of the day on Friday, May 22nd. After this date, changes to elective courses will only be initiated as a result of scheduling errors, irresolvable scheduling conflicts, previous course failures, or administration recommendation.

Please be aware that the following courses will not run during the 2020-2021 School Year: Accounting II, Accounting III, AP French, AP Physics 1, STEM: CEA and Poetry. If you previously selected any of these courses, please be sure to select an additional course as a replacement.

The English, math, social studies, and science courses reflect final teacher recommendations. If you would like to request an override for a teacher-recommended course, please complete the Request to Override Teacher Recommendation Form found at https://forms.gle/9pjtedMtMR996HdT6 or on the Kennett High School website under Counseling. Requests for course overrides must also be submitted by the end of the day on Friday, May 22nd. After this date, changes to core academic courses will only be initiated as a result of scheduling errors, irresolvable scheduling conflicts, previous course failures, or administration recommendation.

We are committed to ensuring that all of our students have the optimal schedule to meet their unique learning needs and preferences, and your cooperation with this process and our timeline is essential to making that a reality. If you have any questions related to scheduling for the 2020-2021 school year, please do not hesitate to contact me, Mr. Jeff Thomas, Assistant Principal, or one of our school counselors for more information and clarification.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Hritz, Ed.D.

Principal, Kennett High School

4 de mayo del 2020

Saludos,

Sinceramente,

Jeremy Hritz, Ed.D.

Director, Escuela Superior de Kennett

Completing this application leads to eligibility for a wide range of scholarships – some have very specific criteria, while others are more general in nature. Some awards consider criteria such as academic record, school/public service, personal character, field of study, and length of the intended educational program. While most donors of scholarships and awards have not made a student’s need for financial aid the major requirement, this need is the basis of some awards.

  • The application form, the activity form, and release form (This packet was mailed home. Extra copies can be picked up in the counseling office.)
  • A copy of the financial aid letter from the school you planned to attend.
    • If you applied for aid and have not received your aid package, please bring your aid offer to the counseling office as soon as you receive it.
    • If you did not apply for financial aid, please note that on your application.
