Letter in English and Spanish
Greetings Student and Parent(s) or Guardian(s):
We hope that you have been enjoying summer and are gearing up for what is going to be the best year yet!
The Kennett High School Counselors have been diligently working to finalize all student schedules for the 2026-2027 school year to ensure that course requests have been honored as accurately as possible. Please be reminded that all 9th and 10th grade students are expected to have a full schedule without study halls or open periods. While we make every effort to avoid scheduling study halls for students in these grades, there may be circumstances that result in a 9th or 10th grade student having a study hall. Additionally, all students need to maintain a schedule with enough courses in order to achieve the required number of credits each year.
In order to do so, their counselor may have had to schedule them for electives that they did not originally request. Additionally, the following elective offerings will not be running this school year: AP European History, Introduction to Cosmology, Human Growth and Development II, and Nutrition Health & Wellness.
Your schedule for the 2026-2027 school year is now available to review in Skyward. Changes to student schedules at this time will only be initiated as a result of errors, scheduling conflicts or previous course failures. With that said, please review your schedule to ensure that it contains all required courses for which you were recommended. Your final schedule will be provided to you in your period 1 class on the 1st day of school.
Please be advised, there will be an add/drop period for course changes this school year for both the Fall and Spring semesters. Starting at the beginning of the school year, you will have until September 14th to make requested changes to your schedule for the Fall semester. Please contact your school counselor with any course change requests.
Please note that:
- Every student will have an Academic Intervention & Enrichment (AIE) Block. AIE will be listed on student schedules as AIE 30 (9th graders) or AIE 29 (10th graders), etc., designated by the student’s graduation year. This block will occur every day from 9:08-9:37 am. The AIE block is designed for students to receive any support they may need, extension activities if applicable, build relationships with each other and staff, and to help students with the workload of a high school student.
- If you see an error in your schedule (missing/incorrect required course or a class you have already passed), contact your School Counselor for your schedule to be corrected.
- Every attempt has been made to schedule the elective or alternate courses you requested. This is not always possible due to schedule constraints and restrictions.
- Requests for courses that meet at specific times or with specific teachers will not be honored.
- Most students’ schedules should have the following courses: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Electives, Health/Physical Education (9th and 10th grade), and Personal Finance (formally known as Seminar Career Readiness) (9th grade).
- Students enrolled in TCHS programs will have schedules with their required core courses at KHS and their technical program at TCHS.
- Remember to complete your summer reading assignments for English, Honors American Studies, and any AP courses in which you are enrolled, which can be found on the KHS website under Summer Assignments 2026.
- Junior and Senior Option have not yet been verified and will not appear on your schedule until verification occurs. If you have not submitted your form(s), please do so ASAP. The forms are available on the KHS Counseling Schoology page under the Course Selection and Scheduling folder.
- You will receive further information regarding lunches when you receive our welcome letter in the next week.
We look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 31st to start the new school year!
Sincerely with Kennett PRIDE,
Elisha Ozer, Ed.D.
Principal
